A Royal Wedding

We are learning all about The Royal Family in Wise Owls and we are very excited for Monday as we are having our very own Royal Wedding

The children are invited to come along to school in their party clothes so they can become the wedding guests, the grown ups in school will be taking on the roles of the Royal Family.

On Monday the photographs should be on the blog so pop back for a look.

What is a prayer?

In R.E today we talked about the different types of prayers that Christians have. There are 4 main types.

1. Ask prayers.

2. Thank you prayers.

3. Sorry prayers.

4. Praise prayers.

Wise Owls had a good think about what types of prayers they may have used in the story of The Lost Son. The children came up with some great ideas.

“The boy might ask for forgiveness”

“The father might say please make my son come back”

“The dad might say thank you because God brought his son back to him”

“The younger son might say sorry because he spent all his fathers money”

Throwing and Catching Part 2

Today we continued to practise throwing and catching the bean bags using one hand to throw another to catch.

The Wise Owls then passed the bean bag back and fourth with a friend.

One friend passed the bean bag under arm with one hand as their friend got ready to receive the bean bag holding both of their hands together. The Wise Owls were great at working together.

Have a great Friday and weekend Wise Owls.

Today in Maths

We are thinking about one more and one less in Maths in Year 1. Using 10 frames and counters we imagined that we had bought 5 cakes. We used our counters to represent 5 on our 10 frames. We then said that we had eaten 1 of our cakes and thought about how we could now represent the answer using our counters and 10 Frames. We challenged the children to show their answer in different ways and they did a great job. Well done Wise Owls.
